LIONS DISTRICT 2-A2 QUEEN’S CONTEST
SPECIFIC INFORMATION
The contest will begin at 1:30 PM on Friday, April 12, 2013 at the Menger Hotel, Texas. Contestants need to arrive at the hotel before that time to prepare for the judges interview. During this time the contestants will be judged, individually, in the interview category and charm and poise category will also be judged at that time.
The contestants can be dressed casually for the interview, but remember, this is your first impression before the judges and first impressions can make a difference.
The Beauty and Grace portion of the pageant will be judged after the banquet on Friday evening. The contestants are asked to wear formal attire and will be presented individually.
The category of selling ads will have the points determined before April 12, 2013. Points will be determined according to the monetary amount submitted by Friday, March 29, 2013. The highest seller will receive 100 points, the next highest will receive 95 points and thereafter reducing by five (5) points.
There will be a room available for changing for those contestants who will not have a room in the hotel.
Deadline for turning in your application and your 3x5 picture is Friday March 29, 2013.
Please gather in the lobby of the hotel starting at 1:15 PM on Friday, April 12, 2013.
The interview portion of the contest is a “closed session." Only the contestants and the judges will be in the room.
The contestants will draw numbers to create the order of appearance before the judges for the interview and the evening pageant.
The tentative schedule for April 12, 2013 is as follows:
1:30 – 3:30 The judge’s interview
3:30 – 4:30 Practice for the pageant
4:30 – 6:30 Time for preparing for the evening pageant
7:00 - - - - - The evening banquet and pageant

INFORMATION BULLETIN
The Queen's Contest for District 2-A2 will be held on Friday, April 12, 2013 at the site of the convention (the Menger Hotel in San Antonio, Texas).
The young lady representing the club must be a Junior or Senior in High School.
The club is responsible for making sure the contestant arrives at the convention site and has accommodations for the night.
The club is also responsible for paying for the meals for the contestant (and the parent(s) if they are in attendance).
There will not be a fee charged but the contestants will be selling ads for the convention program book and selling will be part of the overall scoring for the contestants. Suggestions for the contestants in selling ads are sales to their parents and friends that produce ads that read "Good Luck to (insert name)" and sales to the sponsoring club.
The categories of scoring are: (a) A personal interview with the judges; (b) Charm and Poise; (c) Ad sales; (d) Beauty and grace.
The interviews will be held on Friday afternoon, April 12, 2013 at the hotel, further information as to the exact location will be provided later.
The formal Queen's Pageant will be held that evening after dinner and category (d) will be scored.
Category (c) will be determined earlier as the deadline for turning in the ads is March 29, 2013. Please send the ads to the address listed below. Also, please have the checks made out to District 2-A2.
All contestants will be required to provide a 3x5 photo for publishing in the program book.

AD SALES INFORMATION
The deadline for turning in your ads is Friday, March 29, 2013.

The sales agreements contracts are included in this packet and you can print out the number of copies needed.
Sell ads to everyone you know, parents, relatives, friends and make sure that your sponsoring Lion's Club purchases an ad from you.
Make sure that you send in the ad copy, sometimes companies have their own ad already created, sometimes they ask you to create the ad. When you send the ads to Lion Robert Kneupper they need to be ready to be placed in the book, the chairman does not create the ads.
The agreements are easy to fill out. Just take a little time to study the form to make sure that you understand what is being asked.
