Outstanding Youth Contest
Lions District 2A-2
The Outstanding Youth Contest for District 2A-2 will be held on Friday, April 13, 2012 at the Holiday Inn Express Hotel at 15408 IH 35 N Selma, Texas. Information about this contest is listed below:
1. The young person representing the club must be a Junior or Senior in High School.
2. The club is responsible for making sure their contestant arrives at the convention site by 1:15 p.m. on Friday, April 13, 2012, and has accommodations for Friday night if they need them.
3. The club is also responsible for paying for the meals for their contestant and the parent (s) if they attend.
4. There will not be an entrance fee, but your contestant will be selling ads for the convention program book. Sales of ads will be part of the overall scoring for the contestant. Suggestions for selling ads include sales to their parents, to the sponsoring club, and/or sales to community sponsors.
5. The contestant will be interviewed by a panel of judges on Friday afternoon, April 13, 2012, at the hotel between 1:30 and 3:30 p.m.
6. The winner of the contest will announced that evening at the Convention Youth Banquet.
7. Please send the ads to the address listed below, and have the checks made out to Lions District 2-A2.
8. All contestants will be required to provide a resume, a 750 word essay entitled “Volunteerism and Its Importance” Three (3) letters of recommendation and two (2) wallet-sized color photos of head and shoulders for publishing in the convention program.
9. Applications and ad sales contracts are included in this packet of information.
